HCA Florida Memorial Hospital, in partnership with the University of South Florida , is seeking an experienced Trauma Medical Director (TMD) to lead a high performing trauma and acute care surgery program in Jacksonville, Florida. This is a leadership opportunity within a busy Florida State verified Level II Trauma Center supported by a robust multidisciplinary team.
Position OverviewThe Trauma Medical Director will have full authority and accountability for the trauma program and acute care surgery service, providing both clinical leadership and strategic oversight.
- Leadership responsibility for the trauma program and acute care surgery service
- 12 hour in house primary coverage with additional 12 hour backup call
- Supported by a dedicated team of:
- 6 full time trauma surgeons
- 7 full time Advanced Practice Professionals
- Active participation in TQIP and TQIP collaboratives
- Strong multidisciplinary support including:
- Cardiothoracic Surgery
- Vascular Surgery
- Orthopedic Surgery
- Neurosurgery
- Interventional Radiology
- Florida State verified Level II Trauma Center
- Approximately 1,840 trauma activations annually
- High acuity case mix with 87% blunt trauma / 13% penetrating trauma
- 56 bed Emergency Department with:
- 2 dedicated trauma bays
- 4 additional critical care bays
- 26 operating rooms
- 36 ICU beds (combined Trauma ICU / Medical ICU)
- Pediatric trauma patients (
- Board Certified in General Surgery
- Added Qualifications in Surgical Critical Care
- Current ATLS Instructor
- Prior experience as Trauma Medical Director or Associate TMD , with state and regional trauma system exposure
- Eligible for or currently holding an unrestricted Florida medical license
- No history of license revocation, restriction, or suspension
- Active, unrestricted DEA registration
- Employed faculty position with academic appointment through the University of South Florida
- Opportunity to lead and shape a mature, high volume trauma program
- Collaborative academic and clinical environment within a major healthcare system
