Our busy Houston, Texas warehouse is seeking a meticulous Receiving Clerk to join our dedicated team. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for overseeing the accurate and efficient processing of all incoming goods. Your duties will include verifying deliveries, inspecting shipments for damage, and ensuring that all items are correctly logged into our inventory system. This position is fundamental to our logistics operations, ensuring that our inventory levels are accurate and that materials are ready for distribution. Safety is a top priority, and adherence to all safety regulations, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, unload, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders.
- Inspect all deliveries for damage, shortages, or discrepancies.
- Document and report any issues or exceptions encountered during receiving.
- Enter received goods into the inventory management system accurately and efficiently.
- Stage received items for put-away or further processing.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving area.
- Operate pallet jacks and other material handling equipment as needed.
- Follow all company safety protocols and procedures, including the correct use of PPE and safe lifting techniques.
- Assist with inventory counts and support other warehouse logistics functions as required.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers, carriers, and internal departments.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Receiving Clerk or in a similar warehouse role is preferred.
- Proficiency with inventory management software and computer systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including some lifting up to 45 lbs.
- Understanding of warehouse logistics and receiving procedures.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety guidelines.
- Good organizational and communication skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
