We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Forklift Operator to join our bustling warehouse in Chicago, Illinois. As a Forklift Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of materials, inventory, and products throughout our facility. Your role is crucial in maintaining workflow, ensuring timely loading and unloading of trucks, and supporting various warehouse operations. Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts (e.g., sit-down, stand-up, reach trucks) to move, stack, load, and unload materials and products.
- Transport inventory between various areas of the warehouse, including receiving, storage, and shipping docks.
- Conduct daily inspections of forklifts to ensure they are in safe working condition and report any issues.
- Load and unload trailers and containers accurately and efficiently.
- Assist with receiving and shipping functions as needed, including order picking and staging.
- Maintain accurate records of material movements and inventory locations.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and company policies, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Keep the work area clean and organized, ensuring aisles and pathways remain clear.
- Participate in inventory counts and cycle counting activities.
- Collaborate with warehouse team members and supervisors to ensure smooth operations and meet productivity goals within the logistics framework.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Forklift Operator in a warehouse or distribution environment.
- Valid forklift operator certification (specific types may be required).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency in operating various types of forklifts safely and efficiently.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures and protocols.
- Knowledge of material handling principles and logistics operations.
- Excellent attention to detail and spatial awareness.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Commitment to wearing required PPE, such as safety shoes and vests.
