As the Founding Fullstack Engineer, you won't just be writing code; you'll be architecting the engine of the company. You will lead the development of data pipelines that turn raw government "firehoses" into actionable insights, build sophisticated AI agents, and design the intuitive UIs customers use to navigate mission-critical information. This is a high-stakes, high-autonomy role for someone who wants to solve national security problems and thrives in a fast-paced, "build-test-iterate" environment. Architect & Build: Design and maintain Usul's core platform using Python, React, and NextJS. AI Implementation: Build, deploy, and refine AI Agents and LLM-driven workflows to interpret complex government procurement data. Data Engineering: Develop robust pipelines to ingest, clean, and make sense of massive, unstructured government datasets. Customer-Centric Iteration: Talk directly to defense tech leaders and contractors to present your work, take direct feedback, and pivot quickly based on user needs. Founding Culture: Help set the engineering standards, culture, and technical roadmap for a company in a hyper-growth phase. Experienced: You have at least 3+ years of professional Software Engineering experience. Fullstack Capable: You are highly proficient with Python (backend) and React/NextJS (frontend). AI-Native: You know how to utilize LLMs effectively and have experience building and orchestrating AI Agents. Mission-Driven: You have a genuine passion for solving problems within the national security and defense space. Fearless: You have the confidence to present your work to customers and the humility to iterate when challenged. Local & Dedicated: You are ready to work in-person 5 days a week in our San Francisco office.
