Position Purpose: In the role of Senior Data Scientist on Petco's Enterprise Analytics and Data Science team, you will lead the charge in developing and deploying scalable, production-grade machine learning models designed to enhance personalized membership and digital experiences. Collaborating closely with our membership and digital teams, you will drive initiatives that bolster customer engagement, loyalty growth, and digital performance. Essential Job Functions:
In this role, you will be expected to perform a variety of key responsibilities, including: Building, maintaining, optimizing, and deploying machine learning models and advanced algorithms to improve membership and digital customer experiences. Generating and testing hypotheses, and analyzing and interpreting the results of experiments. Communicating insights and recommendations effectively through well-crafted reports and engaging presentations to audiences with varying levels of technical knowledge. Enhancing existing methodologies by developing new data sources, testing model improvements, and fine-tuning model parameters. Defining requirements and collaborating with engineering teams to create analytic capabilities, platforms, and pipelines for scalable modeling. Developing and monitoring KPIs across diverse business areas, ensuring accurate tracking and performance measurement. Providing leadership, mentorship, and training to junior data scientists. Education and Experience: Master's degree or PhD in Statistics, Math, Engineering, Economics, or a related quantitative field. Eight or more years of experience in business analytics and data science. A strong background in applying machine learning and deep learning algorithms to real-world problems in a corporate context. A proven ability to navigate ambiguity, prioritize effectively, and achieve results in a dynamic environment. Proficiency in SQL and Python is required; knowledge of R is a notable advantage. Ability to distill complex analytical methodologies and findings for non-technical stakeholders. Strong skills in quantitative modeling, statistical analysis, and critical thinking. The expected pay range for this position is $142,100.00 - $213,100.00 per year. Actual pay rates will depend on a variety of factors such as position, location, level of experience, and applicable state or local minimum wage laws.
