Über
Works closely with scientific staff to anticipate and meet program requirements for computational infrastructure
Ability to work closely and coordinate with network and administrative groups on multiple levels
May research vendor products and negotiates hardware/software maintenance contracts. Recommends purchase, development or enhancement of network hardware, software and telecommunications
Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and replace defective components when necessary
Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware
May be required to manage a Windows/Mac computer network of moderate size (100-200 devices)
May be a representative of the department with external institutes and user groups
May be responsible for user training sessions, training materials and documents
May write scripts to manage and streamline computing queues and develop/implement policies and quotas on centralized cluster storage
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Experience with, but not limited to: Unix, HTTP, HTML, ATM, ARCNET, etc.
Strong interpersonal skills - ability to effectively interact with all levels of staff and external contacts
Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills
Experience managing high performance computer clusters and programming in a higher language such as CC, Java, PHP, Python) a plus
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS: The position requires a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, with an MS preferred, and 3-5 years of relevant experience. A combination of education and experience may substitute for the degree requirement. The role involves performing primary duties and advancing to more complex skillsets under general supervision, with some latitude for independent judgment. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Pay Transparency Statement The hiring range is based on market pay structures, with individual salaries determined by factors such as business needs, market conditions, internal equity, and based on the candidate's relevant experience, skills and qualifications. For union positions, the pay range is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). $87,000.00 - $100,400.00
