You will be expected to attend company-wide and team offsites multiple times annually to foster collaboration and connection, with your participation fully supported. We are innovating an industry-leading, ultra-low-latency indexing platform that ingests and indexes data from major blockchains. This platform will streamline operations for both Coinbase teams and external developers through the Coinbase Developer Platform, enabling a wide range of applications. In this role, you will work with a modern streaming stack, including gRPC and Kafka, designing and managing low-latency services at scale. As part of a small, high-impact team, you will deliver essential platform primitives, SDKs, and tools that enhance developer productivity and accelerate time-to-market. Your Responsibilities: Develop and manage low-latency indexing and streaming services using gRPC, Kafka, and our real-time infrastructure.
Own APIs, schemas, SLOs, observability, and on-call responsibilities for the systems under your management.
Lead multi-month projects focused on improving latency, reliability, and cost-efficiency, including new chain integrations and system migrations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data contracts and launch SDKs/platform primitives that drive usage.
What We Value in You: At least 5 years of experience in software engineering.
Strong expertise in distributed systems or data systems is essential. Familiarity with cryptocurrency is a significant plus.
A proven track record of designing and executing solutions that solve complex problems with notable impact.
A genuine enthusiasm for building an indexing platform that links Web3 and Web2 ecosystems.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in designing and developing distributed systems.
A background in fast-growing companies, particularly transitioning from small teams to larger engineering groups.
Familiarity with blockchain technologies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum.
A successful history of breaking down large monolithic applications into microservices.
Proficient in technologies including Golang, Kafka, Redis, S3, Clickhouse, and MongoDB.
Experience contributing to high-reliability or high-security financial systems.
Crypto-forward knowledge, including understanding on-chain activities, interacting with Ethereum addresses, engaging with dApps, and utilizing blockchain services.

The target annual salary for this position ranges from $186,065 to $218,900 USD. Full-time offers from Coinbase also include eligibility for bonuses, equity, and benefits such as medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
