Our Data and Insights team is looking for a Data Analyst who's eager to support our newsroom, product, advertising, and marketing teams by using data to drive audience growth, engagement, and revenue.
This role will work alongside other analysts to analyze content performance, audience engagement, subscription trends, and advertising effectiveness to inform decision-making across the organization.
What You'll Do Use GA4 Data, Chartbeat, and other tools to surface real-time insights and trends Track and analyze website traffic, reader behavior, and content performance using Google Analytics and similar tools. Build and maintain dashboards that help teams quickly understand what's working (and why) Write and optimize SQL queries in BigQuery to pull clean, reliable datasets for analysis Translate analytics into action (clear recommendations, not just charts) Support goal setting activity by providing baseline data Work with Advertising teams as needed to assess ad performance, reader demographics, and campaign effectiveness and find optimization opportunities Help improve measurement by documenting definitions, metrics, and best practices across teams Support data governance policies and controls Contribute to an inclusive and positive work environment Who We are Looking For
2+ years of experience in media/publishing in audience and or engagement analytics analytics, or a related analytics heavy role (required) Newsroom exposure (experience supporting a content creation environment) Experience with web analytics tools (like Google Analytics), a data warehouse (like BigQuery), dashboarding (in Looker Studio, Tableau, Power BI, or similar), and a newsroom-specific analytics tool (like Chartbeat, Parsely or Marfeel). Newsletter Tools a plus (SailThru, Campaign Monitor) Strong data skills: Strong SQL skills for data exploration - pull queries, complex joins Strong communication skills: able to translate data into clear, practical takeaways for non-technical stakeholders Curious and proactive: asks good questions, spots patterns, and looks for opportunities to improve how we measure and learn Good judgment under deadline: can prioritize quickly and deliver accurate insights when timing matters Detail-oriented and disciplined: validates data, documents assumptions, and cares about consistency in metrics and definitions
