Role Overview: The Research & Development Data Scientist Associate will play a crucial role in planning, executing, and developing cutting-edge data science analyses for research projects within the ETS Research Institute. This role focuses on applying advanced data science methodologies, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to extract valuable insights and predictions from diverse data sources. Proficiency in modern frameworks and cloud computing is vital for driving innovative research in educational measurement and assessment. Key Responsibilities: Data Management:
Collect, preprocess, and manage both structured and unstructured data while ensuring quality and integrity. Data Analysis:
Perform exploratory data analysis to discover trends, patterns, and actionable insights. Model Development: Design, implement, and validate predictive models and machine learning algorithms using tools like PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Scikit-learn. Experiment with advanced language models and generative AI techniques to explore innovative research applications. Deployment & Scalability: Create and manage model deployment pipelines in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure) for better scalability and reproducibility. Collaboration & Communication: Work alongside scientists and cross-functional teams to align data science initiatives with research project goals. Contribute to technical reports, presentations, and publications to share research findings effectively. Articulate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders, adjusting communication styles as needed. Qualifications: Strong proficiency in Python and/or R for data analysis and modeling. Hands-on experience with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow. Familiarity with generative AI methodologies and practical applications. Solid understanding of statistical methods, experimental design, and data visualization techniques. Experience with cloud environments (e.g., AWS) for deploying models and processing data. Excellent problem-solving skills and adaptability to shifting research priorities. Strong written and verbal communication skills, suitable for a variety of audiences. Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and reliability in data tasks. Education: Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field, or a combination of relevant education and experience. Why Join ETS?
