Resident Engineer (Construction Engineering)

Job Description

Position Summary

A&M Consulting Engineers is seeking a Resident Engineer (RE) to lead construction administration and construction engineering (CE) services for public infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for delivering projects safely, on time, and in compliance with contract documents and funding requirements—especially Caltrans Local Assistance procedures, including the Local Assistance Procedures Manual (LAPM) for federal-aid/state-funded projects.

The Resident Engineer serves as A&M’s primary construction lead in the field and with the agency, and is accountable for contract compliance, documentation, coordination, and resolution of construction issues from Notice to Proceed through final acceptance and closeout.

Key Responsibilities

1) Construction Administration & Contract Compliance (LAPM-Focused)

• Administer construction contracts in accordance with Caltrans LAPM , agency requirements, and the contract documents (plans/specs/special provisions).
