JOB DESCRIPTION CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGER / ESTIMATOR

Summary

Van Vleet Construction is a small, growing general contractor based in Erie, CO, delivering high-quality projects primarily along Colorado's Front Range. We specialize in commercial tenant improvements (TI), ground-up builds, schools, manufacturing facilities, and similar work.

We're seeking an experienced, hands-on Project Manager/Estimator who thrives on taking projects from cradle to grave—leading estimating to win the work, then managing execution through completion. This role combines sharp estimating skills with full project leadership to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest standards in a collaborative, close-knit environment.

Primary Responsibilities

Estimating & Pre-Construction

  • Develop accurate, competitive job estimates by interpreting blueprints, performing detailed take-offs, and calculating labor, material, equipment, and time requirements.
  • Review proposals, specifications, and related documents to identify scope and risks.
  • Conduct site visits and attend pre-bid meetings to assess project conditions.
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor bids, review scopes, and assess their capacity and fit.
  • Collaborate with clients to optimize budgets through value engineering, alternate materials/finishes, and efficient methods.
  • Prepare bid packages, instructions to bidders, and formal proposals.

Project Management (Full Lifecycle Ownership)

  • Manage preconstruction tasks including submittals, RFIs, ASIs, permitting, and coordination with owners, architects, and engineers.
  • Oversee active construction: coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and teams; track schedule, budget, quality, and safety compliance.
