Job Description

Position Title: Project Manager / Troubleshooter / Quoter
Company: Northern Water & Power
Location: North Idaho / Eastern Washington
Reports To: Service Manager / Operations Manager

Position Overview

Northern Water & Power is seeking a highly skilled Project Manager / Troubleshooter / Quoter to lead field assessments, diagnose complex system issues, and provide accurate project quotes for well pump systems, water filtration systems, plumbing, and electrical services.

This position is responsible for responding to customer needs, diagnosing problems, developing solutions, and converting those solutions into approved projects.

The ideal candidate is an experienced professional who understands well systems, electrical systems, plumbing, and water filtration , and who can confidently represent the company while maintaining our commitment to excellence.

Core Responsibilities

Customer Response & Assessment

  • Respond to out-of-water and system failure emergencies when dispatched.

  • Perform complete on-site diagnostics of well pump systems.

  • Evaluate pressure tanks, pump performance, wiring, control boxes, VFD drives, and water system components.

  • Identify root causes of failures and system inefficiencies.

  • Provide clear explanations of findings to the customer.

Troubleshooting

  • Diagnose complex well pump and water system issues.

  • Perform electrical diagnostics including:

    • Running amperage

    • Voltage checks

    • Control box diagnostics

    • Pump insulation tests

  • Assess plumbing and filtration issues related to water quality or system performance.

  • Determine the most effective repair or replacement solutions.

Quoting & Project Development

  • Build accurate and profitable quotes using Jobber software.

  • Develop detailed scopes of work for:

    • Well pump replacements

    • Pressure tank systems

    • Water filtration installations

    • Electrical upgrades

    • Plumbing repairs

  • Ensure all quotes include the highest quality components and installation methods.

Sales & Customer Education

Educate customers on:

  • The condition of their system

  • Recommended solutions

  • Long-term reliability

  • Water quality concerns

Promote additional services when beneficial:

  • Water filtration systems

  • Water quality testing and assessments

  • Electrical system upgrades

  • Plumbing improvements

Jobber Workflow Responsibilities

This role must follow Northern Water & Power's Jobber operational process :

  1. Review incoming Requests or Quotes assigned by office staff.

  2. Conduct on-site assessment .

  3. Create or update Quotes in Jobber .

  4. Obtain customer approval whenever possible.

  5. Convert approved quotes to Jobs .

  6. Coordinate scheduling with office staff.

  7. Ensure technicians have clear scope of work and materials.

Project Oversight

  • Ensure projects are installed correctly and efficiently .

  • Coordinate technicians, equipment, and materials.

  • Monitor job progress and troubleshoot any issues during installation.

  • Maintain quality control to ensure Northern Water & Power standards are met.

Documentation

  • Document system findings with photos and notes.

  • Record all diagnostics and testing results.

  • Maintain accurate records in Jobber.

  • Ensure all work is properly documented for technicians and customers.

Required Skills & Experience

Ideal candidates will have experience in one or more of the following trades:

  • Well Pump Systems

  • Electrical Systems

  • Plumbing

  • Water Filtration

Preferred qualifications:

  • Electrical Journeyman License (preferred)

  • Well Pump installation and troubleshooting experience

  • Plumbing experience

  • Ability to read electrical diagrams and well logs

  • Strong mechanical and diagnostic abilities

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

  • Lift equipment up to 75+ pounds

  • Work around well heads, pump systems, and mechanical equipment

Compensation

Compensation is based on experience and may include:

  • Competitive salary or hourly pay
