Senior Project Manager

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Utility / Sitework Construction Project Manager to oversees all phases of utility infrastructure projects—sanitary, storm and water—from planning and bidding to completion, ensuring projects are safe, on time, and within budget. Key responsibilities include coordinating subcontractors, managing budgets ($50k-$2,000k+ range), ensuring regulatory compliance, and liaising with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Planning & Scheduling: Develop comprehensive project schedules, timelines, and budgets using tools like Microsoft Project, Excel, or Primavera P6.
• Field Operations Supervision: Coordinate and supervise on-site construction activities, including subcontractors, to ensure adherence to blueprints and technical specifications.
• Safety & Compliance: Ensure all work meets local, state, federal, and company safety standards, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
• Budget & Resource Management: Manage project costs, estimate bids, procure materials, and manage equipment rentals to prevent overruns.
• Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary contact for engineers, clients, city inspectors, and utility company representatives.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Experience: Proven experience in utility construction, infrastructure installation, or maintenance.
• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of underground utilities, and water/wastewater systems.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is often preferred, though equivalent experience is accepted.
• Software Proficiency: Experience with scheduling software - MS Project, Blue Beam, HCSS Heavy Bid and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Leadership: Ability to lead field crews, manage subcontractors, and solve problems quickly on-site.

Common Job Requirements

• Valid driver's license.
• Availability for site visits and potential travel.
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents, blueprints, and specifications.
• Owner required background checks and random drug testing may be mandatory to work on some sites.
• three (3) to five (5) years experience preferred.
