Job Description
The Member Engagement Manager plays a pivotal role in the Plainfield Indiana Chamber’s mission to support local businesses, foster economic growth, and community prosperity. The position leads membership growth, engagement, and retention efforts while ensuring members experience their full value of their investment in the Chamber. This is a highly visible, relationship-centered position ideal for someone passionate about local business, community development, and collaborative partnerships. Ideal candidates are energized by connecting with people, building trust, and being on the front lines of a thriving business ecosystem.
Membership Management & Retention
- Advocate for all members daily; respond promptly to calls, emails, and walk-ins.
- Send welcome emails and thank-you cards to new members.
- Refresh and track membership packages annually.
- Conduct ongoing database management.
- Manage member engagement programs including but not limited to new member orientation and monthly membership meetings.
Membership Sales & Growth
- Prospect and recruit new members (outreach, follow-up).
- Create/update new member orientation packets.
- Collaborate with Executive Director on investor-level sponsorship development and membership sales.
- Maintain online membership applications.
Sponsorship Sales and Activation
- Develop, track and deliver sponsorship benefits for members.
- Support fulfillment of investment-level sponsorship packages in collaboration with Executive Director.
- Communicate sponsorship benefits and ensure commitments and benefits are fulfilled.
Administrative Support
- Support Executive Director with the creation of presentations, agendas and meeting management for staff.
Communications Management
- Manage communications to members, board, and committees (emails, notices, newsletters).
- Track and approve member submissions in GrowthZone (events, job postings, press releases, news).
- Maintain and update Info Hub Guide for members.
- Create and update Canva images and materials for special notices
- Social Media Management
- Develop and distribute “Why Join” flyer, testimonials, and major event flyers for prospective members
Other Duties as Assigned by Executive Director
- Assists at Chamber Events with Chamber Events Manager or Team.
Skills & Qualifications –
- Outgoing, friendly, and approachable personality with strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for newsletters, social media, and member outreach.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with members, sponsors, and community partners.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities; able to manage multiple committees, projects, and deadlines at once.
- Some knowledge/experience with CRM systems (GrowthZone or similar preferred).
- Comfortable with basic marketing tools (email campaigns, Canva, social media scheduling, etc.).
- Attention to detail in membership tracking, sponsor deliverables, and committee reporting.
- Ability to work independently while being a strong team collaborator.
- Creative thinker with the ability to develop engaging member programs and communications.
- Professional, positive, and adaptable attitude in a fast-paced environment.
