*Position Summary*
Under direct supervision, the *Aerospace Fluid Power Test Technician *is responsible for performing a combination of highly precise engineering technical duties in support of the development, validation, and qualification of aerospace fluid power components and assemblies. This role supports engineering-defined testing activities including *test configuration, execution, measurement, and calibration* for hydraulic and pneumatic systems such as valves, pumps, motors, and related assemblies.
The position requires a high degree of accuracy, strict adherence to internal procedures and industry standards (including MIL-STD-810 and DO-160), and the ability to interpret engineering documentation to ensure accurate data collection and compliance with aerospace quality requirements.
*Key Responsibilities*
*Test Configuration*
* Configure and set up engineering-defined test systems for hydraulic and pneumatic components and assemblies (e.g., valves, pumps, motors).
* Assemble fluid flow circuits using piping, hoses, fittings, tanks, gauges, and related components in accordance with engineering instructions.
* Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, sketches, and written procedures to accurately construct test configurations.
* Install and connect required instrumentation, including: Pressure and temperature gauges, Flow meters, Oscilloscopes, Accelerometers, Torque meters, Tachometers & Computer-based data acquisition systems
* Prepare test setups in accordance with: Internal written procedures, Verbal engineering instructions & Industry standards such as MIL-STD-810 and DO-160
* Verify instrumentation readiness and ensure system integrity prior to initiating test execution.
*Test Execution*
* Conduct engineering-defined performance, environmental, and functional tests including: Flow testing, Thermal testing, Vibration testing, Power measurement & Pressure testing
* Monitor test inputs and operating parameters to ensure compliance with defined test requirements throughout the duration of testing.
* Evaluate outputs and interpret data trends to confirm performance against engineering specifications.
* Ensure accurate and complete data collection using manual and computerized systems.
* Maintain detailed and organized test records in accordance with aerospace documentation standards.
* Identify and report deviations, anomalies, or equipment malfunctions to engineering leadership.
*Measurement & Inspection*
* Perform dimensional and functional measurements to determine defined physical and performance characteristics of components and assemblies.
* Conduct measurements including, but not limited to: Size and dimensional verification, Weight and density, Hardness, Flow rate, Pressure, Temperature, Power output, Torque & Acceleration
* Utilize appropriate measurement tools and instrumentation with a high degree of precision and repeatability.
* Document measurement results in accordance with internal quality standards.
*Calibration & Equipment Control*
* Ensure all test equipment and instrumentation are calibrated in accordance with approved standards and schedules.
* Maintain accurate calibration records for all instruments used in testing activities.
* Perform internal calibration procedures where authorized.
* Coordinate with external calibration vendors as required.
* Verify calibration status prior to use of any measurement or test equipment.
*Minimum Required Experience*
* Candidates must have a minimum of two (2) years of hands-on technical experience in an engineering, aerospace, manufacturing, industrial, trade, or military environment, demonstrating the ability to perform engineering test configuration, execution, measurement, and calibration activities.
* Equivalent combinations of technical trade school, vocational training, or military technical training with relevant hands-on experience will also be considered.
*Required Qualifications & Skills*
*Core Technical Testing Experience (Primary Requirement)*
Candidates must demonstrate hands-on experience in:
* Configuring and setting up engineering test systems
* Executing performance and functional tests on mechanical or fluid components
* Conducting engineering-defined tests in accordance with written procedures or technical instructions
* Monitoring and controlling test inputs and outputs
* Recording and documenting test data accurately
* Maintaining organized test records and logs
* Supporting engineering development or validation activities
*Fluid Systems & Mechanical Knowledge (Required)*
Candidates must have experience or demonstrated knowledge of:
* Hydraulic and/or pneumatic systems
* Fluid power principles
* Mechanical components such as: Valves, Pumps, Motors & Actuators
* Assembling basic fluid flow circuits using: Piping, Hoses, Fittings, Tanks & Gauges
* Understanding flow, pressure, temperature, and power characteristics
*Test Configuration & Instrumentation (Required)*
Proven experience with:
* Test setup and configuration
* Test stands, benches, or laboratory equipment
* Installation and use of test instrumentation such as: Pressure gauges, Temperature sensors, Flow meters, Torque meters, Tachometers, Accelerometers & Oscilloscopes
* Basic data acquisition systems or computer-based test equipment
*Measurement & Inspection Capabilities (Required)*
Demonstrated ability to:
* Perform dimensional and functional measurements
* Measure physical and performance characteristics such as: Size and weight, Hardness, Density, Flow rate, Pressure, Temperature, Torque & Acceleration
* Use measurement tools and test instruments accurately
* Record and document measurement results in accordance with procedures
*Calibration & Equipment Control (Required)*
Experience with:
* Instrument and equipment calibration
* Calibration procedures and schedules
* Maintaining calibration records
* Verifying calibration status before equipment use
* Coordinating internal or external calibration services
*Mechanical & Tool Proficiency (Required)*
* Hands-on experience using: Hand tools, Power tools, Mechanical assembly tools, Test equipment and fixtures & Fluid circuit components
*Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)*
* Experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing environments
* Exposure to industry test standards such as: MIL-STD-810, DO-160 etc
* Experience with data acquisition systems or test software
* Technical trade school, vocational certification, or military technical training
*Work Environment*
* Laboratory and test facility environment within an aerospace manufacturing setting.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $42,000.00 - $56,000.00 per year

* Have you tested at least TWO of the following hydraulic or pneumatic component types: valves (any type), pumps, motors, or actuators? (Yes/No)
* Do you have hands-on experience assembling fluid circuits using tubing (including bending and flaring), hoses (including crimping), and various fittings (JIC, SAE, ORFS, NPT)? (Yes/No)
* Do you have a minimum of 2 years of full-time, hands-on engineering test technician experience specifically in fluid power testing? (Yes/No)
* Do you have specific experience testing hydraulic or pneumatic valves, pumps, motors, or actuators, including understanding of their performance characteristics and test requirements? (Yes/No)
* Have you used computer-based data acquisition systems (LabVIEW, NI DAQ, DASYLab, or similar) to collect, record, and monitor test data? (Yes/No)
