We are looking for a meticulous and reliable Receiving Clerk to join our team in Detroit, Michigan. The Receiving Clerk is essential for managing the inflow of goods into our warehouse, ensuring accuracy and efficiency from the moment shipments arrive. This role involves inspecting incoming merchandise, verifying quantities against purchase orders, and processing paperwork accurately. A strong commitment to maintaining an organized receiving area and adhering to safety standards is crucial. This is a key position within our logistics operations, contributing to the smooth functioning of the entire supply chain.
Responsibilities:
- Receive, unload, and inspect all incoming shipments for damage and accuracy.
- Verify contents of shipments against purchase orders and packing slips.
- Document discrepancies and report any damages or shortages to the appropriate personnel.
- Accurately enter receiving data into the inventory management system.
- Organize and stock received goods in their designated warehouse locations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving area.
- Operate material handling equipment, such as pallet jacks, safely.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the mandatory use of PPE.
- Assist with inventory counts and other warehouse tasks as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all logistics and receiving protocols.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a warehouse receiving or similar role preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and verification.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing, walking, and lifting up to 40 lbs.
- Familiarity with basic inventory management principles and logistics processes.
- Understanding of warehouse safety best practices and the importance of PPE.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable and punctual.
