We are looking for a skilled and safety-conscious Forklift Operator to join our warehouse operations in Madison, Wisconsin. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of operating forklifts in a fast-paced logistics environment. You will be responsible for moving materials, loading and unloading trucks, and maintaining an organized warehouse. Safety is paramount in this role, and adherence to all operational procedures and safety guidelines is mandatory. Responsibilities:
- Safely and efficiently operate various types of forklifts (e.g., sit-down, stand-up) to move materials throughout the warehouse.
- Load and unload freight from trucks and trailers, ensuring proper weight distribution and stability.
- Transport raw materials, finished products, and equipment to and from designated areas.
- Perform pre-operational checks on forklifts to ensure they are in good working condition, reporting any defects immediately.
- Stack and arrange materials in an orderly and secure manner, utilizing warehouse space effectively.
- Assist with inventory management, including cycle counts and stock put-away.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Operate other warehouse equipment as needed, such as pallet jacks.
- Comply with all OSHA regulations and company safety policies, including the use of required PPE.
- Contribute to the overall efficiency of our logistics operations through prompt and accurate handling of goods.
Qualifications:
- Valid forklift operator certification or license.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or distribution center.
- Demonstrated knowledge of warehouse safety procedures and best practices.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as needed.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting shipping orders and labels.
- Strong spatial awareness and hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to work flexible hours and overtime when required.
- Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment and follow instructions carefully.
- Prior experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) is a plus.
