Role Description
This is a contract role for a Fashion Technical Designer / Product Developer based on-site in Milton, ON. The role involves creating and refining technical designs, overseeing garment construction, and conducting fittings to ensure proper fit, style, and quality. The individual will collaborate with the production team on pattern making and adjustments, ensure accurate garment specifications, and provide support in finalizing product designs. This professional will be responsible for maintaining high standards in the production process while ensuring all designs align with client requirements and market trends.
Qualifications
Design & Collection Development- Lead seasonal collection design from concept → sketches → tech packs → final samples
- Research trends, fabrics, colors, silhouettes, and target market direction
- Translate brand direction into commercially viable styles
- Create original graphics, artworks, and print placements for garments
- Develop, review, and approve prints, patterns, and embellishment layouts
- Create detailed tech packs and specifications for overseas factories
- Review samples for fit, fabrics, finishes, prints, graphics, and construction quality
- Ensure specs, grading, print placement, and quality standards are production-ready
- Review and approve lab dips, strike-offs, fits, prints, and pre-production samples
- Maintain version control and documentation accuracy throughout development
- Communicate consistently with overseas factories and domestic vendors
- Manage the full development calendar including sampling, approvals, and bulk readiness
- Partner with sourcing teams to meet cost, MOQ, and margin targets
- Proactively flag risks, delays, or discrepancies and provide solutions
- Conduct quality checks across samples, pre-production, and bulk readiness
- Approve or request revisions on color, print placement, graphics, trims, and construction
- Ensure alignment between approved samples and final production output
