Job Title: IT Systems Administrator
Location: Hybrid / Waukesha, WI
Shift: 1st Shift M-F
Salary Range: $75-$85K Annually
Job Summary:
The IT Systems Administrator will work under the direction of the Director of Technology to manage and support the organization's network, systems, cybersecurity, and technical operations. This role is hands-on and collaborative, requiring a balance of technical expertise, problem-solving ability, and a service-oriented mindset. The ideal candidate will be proactive, security-conscious, and committed to supporting a mission-driven nonprofit environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
System and Network Management
Maintain and secure the organization's network infrastructure, including Wi-Fi access, routers, and firewalls Administer physical security systems such as door access control and security cameras Manage Microsoft 365 services including SharePoint, Exchange Online, and Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), with a focus on Single Sign-On (SSO) integrations for platforms such as HubSpot, ClickUp, and Dropbox Oversee and optimize implementation of Microsoft Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) suite to simplify security and reduce system complexity Develop and maintain standardized workstation configurations for all staff Support the implementation of office network and site security solution for upcoming office relocation Ensure email deliverability through DMARC/DKIM configuration Cybersecurity and Asset Management
Implement and monitor security protocols for all employee devices to protect against threats Develop and deliver cybersecurity training and awareness programs for staff to build a strong security culture Track and manage the organization's IT assets, including laptops, peripherals, and software licenses Identify opportunities for efficiencies by optimizing software licensing, such as leveraging Microsoft nonprofit pricing and eliminating redundant software Support the development, documentation, and enforcement of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and IT policies Technical Support and Operations
Provide on-site, in-person technical support to staff for hardware, software, and network issues, ensuring quick resolution Support A/V technology in the boardroom and huddle rooms Troubleshoot and resolve common IT issues such as printer communication, ISP connectivity, and other hands-on problems Assist with integrating data and intelligence between different business systems and the Microsoft ecosystem, such as synchronizing email, Teams and phones with Hub Spot Documentation and Reporting
Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, system changes, and support procedures Generate reports on system performance, security incidents, and asset inventory for leadership review Training and Capacity Building
Provide onboarding IT training for new staff to ensure smooth integration into the organization's systems Offer ongoing tech guidance to staff to improve digital literacy and reduce support requests Testing and Disaster Recovery
Conduct regular system backups and test disaster recovery protocols to ensure business continuity Monitor and apply system updates and patches to maintain security and performance Other duties as assigned Required Skills and Experience
Proven experience as an IT Administrator or similar role Minimum 5 years of experience (8 years preferred) Experience in nonprofit or association environments preferred Strong knowledge of network and system security best practices Expertise in Microsoft 365 administration, including SharePoint and Entra ID (Azure AD) Familiarity with endpoint detection and response (EDR) solutions Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently Strong communication and interpersonal abilities Creative and security-conscious approach to solving business challenges Ability to travel up to two (2) weeks per year Certifications Strongly Preferred
Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) or Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert CompTIA Network+
