Our Detroit, Michigan logistics center is seeking a meticulous Shipping Clerk to manage the outbound flow of goods. As a Shipping Clerk, you will be responsible for ensuring that all outgoing shipments are processed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards and carrier requirements. This role is critical to customer satisfaction and the overall success of our distribution network. You will work closely with the warehouse team to prepare orders for transit and maintain organized shipping records. A strong understanding of shipping procedures, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety are essential. You must be comfortable using computer systems and various shipping software. Adherence to safety guidelines, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), is mandatory. Occasional lifting may be required. Key duties include:
- Verify outgoing orders for accuracy against shipping documents.
- Prepare shipping labels and documentation.
- Schedule and coordinate carrier pickups.
- Track shipments and provide status updates.
- Communicate with carriers and internal departments regarding shipment status.
- Maintain organized shipping logs and records.
- Ensure packages are properly sealed and secured for transit.
- Operate shipping equipment, such as pallet jacks and label printers.
- Assist in resolving shipping-related issues.
- Maintain a clean and organized shipping area.
