Mechanical Design Engineer
on behalf of our client, a leading designer and manufacturer of fluid viscous dampers offering specialized energy-management products to a diverse customer base. This role is essential to supporting cross-functional engineering teams by designing, analyzing, and developing advanced dynamic energy management systems. The Mechanical Design Engineer will play a key part in interpreting technical requirements, creating custom engineered components, and ensuring the performance and reliability of complex mechanical systems. Key Responsibilities:
Serve as a key contributor in the development of complex and dynamic energy management systems.
Apply mechanical and structural design principles-including statics, dynamics, kinematics, and strength of materials-to evaluate system solutions.
Interpret application requirements and recommend design solutions, often with incomplete data sets.
Perform mechanical analysis for dynamic systems, particularly involving damped harmonic motion.
Design custom components such as springs, dampers, isolators, and related mechanisms.
Prepare and review specifications, support bids and proposals, and interface with customers and suppliers.
Conduct hands-on engineering work, including design documentation, testing, and analysis.
Create 3D CAD models using SolidWorks.
Perform CAE simulations using tools such as MSCOne.
Utilize ERP software (Infor Syteline) for project and product data management.
Participate in meetings with cross-functional teams to support design, detailing, analysis, budgeting, and project execution.
Travel as needed to support programs.
Adhere to requirements related to U.S. export-controlled information and hardware.
Requirements Include:
Education:
Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering required.
Experience:
Minimum: Entry-level college graduate in engineering.
Preferred: 5+ years of experience in a mechanical engineering-related field.
Broad background in mechanical design and analysis, strength of materials, kinematics, dynamics, and fluid mechanics preferred.
Skills:
Proficiency in mechanical analysis, especially in dynamic systems and damped harmonic motion.
Strong 3D modeling experience;
SolidWorks proficiency preferred .
Experience with FEA/FEM and numerical modeling (MSCOne or similar) preferred.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and creative design capabilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.
Certifications:
No certifications required; engineering-related certifications are a plus.
Knowledge:
Strong understanding of statics, dynamics, kinematics, strength of materials, and fluid dynamics.
Knowledge of CAE tools such as MSCOne and ERP systems like Infor Syteline.
Familiarity with engineering documentation practices, specification development, and testing protocols.
Understanding of export-control requirements for technical data and hardware.
