Hybrid – Edinburgh / Ireland / London 📅 Contract – 6 Months+ We are seeking an experienced Mainframe DB2 System Administrator to support enterprise-level DB2 subsystems within a high-availability banking environment. This role requires deep technical expertise in DB2 for z/OS, system performance optimization, disaster recovery, and third-party DB2 tooling. 🔹 Role Overview The successful candidate will ensure high availability, optimal performance, and operational stability of DB2 subsystems across production environments. The role involves close collaboration with client teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders, including participation in weekend support and on-call activities when required. 🔹 Key Responsibilities * Install, patch (PTFs), and upgrade DB2 subsystems using SMP/E * Monitor and tune DB2 system parameters (ZPARMS), buffer pools, EDM pools * Design and implement backup and recovery strategies for DB2 catalog and directory * Install and maintain third-party DB2 tools (e.g., Broadcom Platinum, SYSVIEW) * Manage DB2 security using RACF, ACF2, or Top Secret * Support production DB2/IMS DBA environments * Participate in vendor connects and client-facing discussions * Provide weekend / on-call support as required 🔹 Mandatory Skills * Strong DB2 for z/OS system administration experience * Deep knowledge of SMP/E * Strong understanding of z/OS internals * Experience with Broadcom (CA) Platinum * Experience with Broadcom SYSVIEW * Performance tuning and subsystem optimization expertise * Disaster recovery implementation experience * DB2 security administration (RACF / ACF2 / Top Secret) 🔹 Nice to Have * IMS installation experience * Production DB2/IMS DBA support 🔹 Work Model Hybrid role (Edinburgh / Ireland / London) Weekend overtime and on-call support required as per client needs.
