Security Architect Salary: £85,000 + Benefits Defence | SC Eligible Location: Bristol (Hybrid – 2–3 days onsite) Overview A global defence technology organisation is seeking an experienced Security Architect to design and assure secure architectures for complex, mission-critical systems operating within high-assurance and regulated environments. This role sits at the centre of product and platform engineering, embedding secure-by-design principles across the full software development lifecycle (SDLC). You will influence architectural decisions, lead threat modelling and risk assessment activities, and ensure compliance with UK Government and MOD security standards. Ideal for a Security Architect with experience in defence, regulated industries, or national security environments who is eligible for SC clearance. Key Responsibilities * Design secure system and cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP). * Embed secure-by-design principles across engineering lifecycles. * Lead threat modelling, risk assessments, and vulnerability management. * Produce security architecture artefacts and design assurance documentation. * Ensure alignment with ISO 27001, NIST 800-30 / 800-53, OWASP frameworks. * Interpret and apply MOD standards (JSP, Def Stan 05-138 / 05-139) * Support incident response planning and remediation strategy. * Translate technical security risk into clear business impact for stakeholders. * Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, and governance teams. Essential Skills & Experience * Proven experience as a Security Architect within complex, regulated environments. * Strong knowledge of ISO 27001, NIST, OWASP security frameworks. * Experience designing secure architectures for high assurance systems. * Cloud security architecture expertise (AWS, Azure, or GCP). * Experience within defence, government, or national security environments. * Knowledge of Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC). * Experience producing security documentation, risk assessments, and assurance artefacts. * Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills. * Eligible for SC clearance (or currently SC cleared)
