We are hiring a detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to manage outbound shipments from our Des Moines, Iowa facility. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in ensuring that all products leave our warehouse accurately, efficiently, and with the correct documentation. You'll be the final check before goods embark on their journey, making you a key player in our Logistics chain. Your duties will involve preparing shipping labels, coordinating with carriers, verifying shipment contents, and maintaining shipping records. A strong understanding of shipping procedures and a commitment to Safety are essential. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. You will be required to wear appropriate PPE to ensure your well-being. While not as physically demanding as some roles, occasional Lifting may be necessary. This is a great opportunity to grow within our Logistics department.
Responsibilities:
- Generate and apply accurate shipping labels and documentation.
- Schedule and coordinate pick-ups with various shipping carriers.
- Verify the accuracy of orders against shipping manifests.
- Inspect outgoing packages for proper packaging and seals.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date shipping records.
- Communicate with internal departments and external carriers regarding shipment status.
- Adhere strictly to all company Safety guidelines and procedures.
- Utilize required PPE during all shipping operations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in shipping, logistics, or a related administrative role.
- Proficiency in using shipping software and carrier portals.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to Safety protocols and wearing the designated PPE.
- Capability for occasional Lifting of packages up to 30 lbs.
