JOB DUTIES:
Under direction of the Radiologist, the PET/CT technologist performs a variety of technical procedures applying ionizing radiation to demonstrate cross-sectional anatomy for the purpose of detecting pathology.
The PET/ CT technologist performs procedures utilizing PET/CT scan table, gantry, and computer console equipment.
Functions using independent judgment, initiative, and ingenuity when performing technical procedures.
Manages and monitors equipment used to acquire cross sectional images.
Develops and organizes diagnostic quality cat scans prior to giving them to the radiologist for interpretation.
Requires the ability to work with all age groups of patients and physical conditions, to include pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
PET/Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification , any combination of Registered Technologist R.T., ARRT (CT), NMTCB and maintain current registration in radiography (R)
Current State of California PET/Nuclear Medicine Technologist License (CRT).
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR in adult, child & infant are required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Moderate amount of lifting and positioning of patients and equipment. Position requires ability to constantly lift objects heavier than 30 pounds, perform difficult manipulative skills, walk and stand for prolonged periods. Position requires ability to concentrate on fine detail with constant interruption and attend to tasks for 5 to 30 minutes at a time. Individuals must be able to understand and relate theories behind several related concepts and remember multiple tasks given to self and others over long periods of time.
HOURS: PET/Nuclear medicine technologists work 4/10 Hour shifts, Monday - Friday with variations as assigned by supervisor.
