Our busy logistics hub in Detroit, Michigan, is looking for a diligent Shipping Clerk to join our team. As a Shipping Clerk, you will play a vital role in the outbound process, ensuring that all orders are accurately documented, packaged, and dispatched efficiently. Your responsibilities will include verifying order details, preparing shipping labels, coordinating with carriers, and maintaining accurate shipping records. You will also be responsible for quality control checks to ensure shipments meet company standards before they leave the facility. This role requires excellent organizational skills and a keen attention to detail. A strong understanding of shipping procedures and logistics is essential. We are committed to maintaining a safe working environment, and all employees must adhere to safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). While primarily an administrative role, some light lifting and movement of packages may be involved, with the ability to lift up to 25 pounds. You will be an integral part of our supply chain, contributing to the timely delivery of goods. Responsibilities:
- Prepare and verify shipping documents and labels.
- Coordinate with transportation carriers for pick-ups and deliveries.
- Ensure accurate packaging and labeling of outgoing shipments.
- Maintain organized shipping records and files.
- Conduct quality checks on outgoing orders.
- Communicate with internal departments regarding shipment status.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in shipping, logistics, or a similar administrative role.
- Proficiency in using shipping software and basic computer applications.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Awareness of workplace safety and the use of PPE.
- Ability to perform light lifting tasks (up to 25 lbs).
