This is a Design Project Engineer position which serves as both Project Manager and Engineer for Our Client's System Preservation Funds 30, 34, 77, 87 & 76. Incumbent will be responsible for establishing project schedules, developing construction plans and estimates, as well as preparing and reviewing contract documents, technical reports and correspondence. Specific duties include, but are not limited to: Perform PM duties for the design and preparation of plan sets, book jobs, cost estimates, specifications, design waivers and exceptions, milestone reports for a variety of projects (geometric modifications, resurfacing etc.); developing and maintaining design and advertisement schedules; conducting and/or attending project related meetings, ensuring designs are in compliance with FHWA, MDOT SHA and AASHTO polices and standards; coordinating and attending meetings with internal and external agencies; coordinating design activities to incorporate engineering data and acquiring project specific permits; providing project development support for other MDOT SHA offices and projects under construction; preparing responses to CCMS inquiries, elected officials, community groups; developing project briefings; and conducting community engagement meetings. This position functions directly under the Engineering Systems Team Chief.
