Our dynamic logistics operation in Chicago, Illinois is seeking an organized and proactive Shipping Clerk to join our team. As a Shipping Clerk, you will be responsible for coordinating and processing all outgoing shipments, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with carrier requirements. This role is integral to our supply chain, guaranteeing that products reach our customers efficiently and in excellent condition. You will work closely with the warehouse floor and administrative staff to manage documentation, track shipments, and resolve any shipping-related issues. Accuracy and attention to detail are key.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare shipping documents, including bills of lading, packing lists, and customs forms.
- Verify order details against shipping manifests to ensure accuracy.
- Coordinate with carriers for pickup schedules and special requirements.
- Label packages correctly and ensure all shipping information is accurate.
- Track shipments and provide updates to relevant parties.
- Inspect outgoing goods to ensure they are properly packaged and secured.
- Maintain organized shipping records and files.
- Communicate effectively with warehouse staff, carriers, and customers regarding shipping matters.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the use of appropriate PPE.
- Assist with receiving and inventory tasks as needed.
- Troubleshoot and resolve shipping discrepancies or issues.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree preferred.
- Previous experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a related logistics/administrative role.
- Proficiency in shipping software and MS Office Suite.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and verification.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Understanding of shipping regulations and carrier requirements.
- Basic knowledge of lifting techniques and safety protocols is beneficial.
