We are hiring a skilled Shipping Clerk to manage our outbound logistics in Atlanta, Georgia. In this critical role, you will oversee the preparation, documentation, and dispatch of all outgoing shipments. Your responsibilities will include coordinating with carriers, ensuring accurate shipping labels and documentation, and maintaining organized shipping areas. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of shipping procedures and logistics. You will work closely with warehouse teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods to our customers. Safety is a core value; adherence to all safety guidelines, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), is mandatory. The ideal candidate will have experience with shipping software, a proven track record in logistics, and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a deadline-driven environment. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process shipping documents, including bills of lading and packing slips.
- Verify shipping information and apply correct labels to packages.
- Schedule and coordinate pickups with various shipping carriers (e.g., FedEx, UPS, LTL).
- Track shipments and provide updates to relevant parties.
- Maintain organized and clean shipping dock areas.
- Ensure compliance with all shipping regulations and company policies.
- Operate shipping equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts (if certified).
- Conduct regular audits of shipping records for accuracy.
- Collaborate with inventory and warehouse teams to resolve shipping discrepancies.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in Logistics or related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a similar logistics role.
- Proficiency in shipping software and carrier platforms.
- Strong knowledge of shipping procedures, documentation, and regulations.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
- Familiarity with warehouse safety practices and PPE.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
