We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to join our logistics team in Tampa, Florida. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all outgoing shipments are accurately processed, documented, and prepared for transit. Your meticulous attention to detail will be crucial in maintaining efficient operations and ensuring customer satisfaction. You will work closely with warehouse staff and carriers to coordinate shipments and manage shipping documentation. This position is vital to the smooth functioning of our distribution center.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and document all outgoing shipments accurately.
- Verify shipping information, including addresses, weights, and dimensions.
- Generate shipping labels and necessary documentation for various carriers.
- Coordinate with freight carriers to schedule pickups and deliveries.
- Maintain organized shipping records and files.
- Track shipments and provide updates to relevant parties.
- Ensure packages are properly labeled, secured, and ready for transit.
- Communicate effectively with warehouse staff, supervisors, and external partners regarding shipping activities.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment, including the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Assist with other logistics and administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college or post-secondary education is a plus.
- Proven experience as a shipping clerk or in a similar administrative role within a logistics or warehouse environment.
- Proficiency in using shipping software and order management systems.
- Strong understanding of shipping procedures and carrier requirements.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with basic lifting and material handling safety procedures is beneficial.
