Are you ready to take on an exciting challenge? Sir Robert McAlpine is gearing up for a major construction programme in Port Talbot, South Wales, and we want you to be part of it! Over the next 3 to 4 years, we will be undertaking heavy construction and civil engineering works across various industrial fronts, starting with enabling works in Q3 2025.

If you are an experienced Works Supervisor with a background in large multi-million-pound projects, this is a fantastic opportunity to join our team and contribute to a complex and technically challenging project valued at over £200m , all under an NEC form of contract.

Your Role: Planning Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Planning Manager to lead the planning and project controls function for this landmark project valued at over £1bn . Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring that our planning aligns with key project decision-making and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning function across one of the project's primary areas.
  • Identify planning strategies, methods, and logistics required throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Create detailed programmes with robust breakdown structures and engaging visuals.
  • Define work intentions with precision and ensure a clear logical flow.
  • Develop phasing diagrams, logistics plans, and resource/plant histograms.
  • Establish certainty in progress tracking to shape future actions.
  • Enhance predictability with robust project controls that forecast and generate early warnings.
  • Utilize data to support decision-making and minimize project risks.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, project teams, customers, and supply chain partners.
  • Consider commercial and contractual implications in planning, scheduling, monitoring, and control.
  • Foster collaboration across project teams.
Your Profile Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Experience managing planning on complex projects.
  • Strong understanding of the NEC form of contract.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Solid grasp of construction methods and planning from first principles.
  • Strong knowledge of Powerproject planning software.
Desirable Skills:
  • Experience in the industrial sector is highly advantageous.
  • Ability to lead and mentor planning team members.
  • Good experience with 4D planning and digital planning technologies.
  • Experience working on Construction Management (CM) projects.
Additional Attributes:
  • Passion for innovation and driving planning initiatives.
  • Proven experience in pre-contract planning.
