The Opportunity: We are seeking an Analyst to join the Performance Reporting and Data Analytics function within our Portfolio Management Group (PMG). PMG oversees discretionary portfolios from initial proposal through construction and eventual winddown. Positioned at the intersection of sales, investments, and operations, the team plays a critical role in ensuring thoughtful portfolio development, execution, and reporting. PMG is highly analytical and leverages deep expertise in private markets, statistics, econometrics, and data science. The Performance Reporting and Data Analytics function is responsible for the creation and oversight of the firm's quarterly performance composites and Assets Under Management (AUM) reporting. The team supports new business efforts by providing performance data and investment statistics for RFPs (Requests for Proposals), responds to ad-hoc data requests from investors and internal stakeholders, and generates insights from historical performance to inform strategic decision-making. This function also ensures alignment with regulatory standards and internal compliance policies. The role requires strong organizational, analytical, and technical skills, with a particular emphasis on proficiency in R. Your responsibilities will be to: Compile quarterly deliverables, including investment performance track records and AUM/AUS (Assets Under Management and Supervision) reports. Support the completion of quantitative sections of RFPs (Request for Proposals) for new business opportunities. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to generate performance analyses and develop new performance views for marketing and client materials. Respond to ad-hoc data requests from existing investors and internal teams (e.g. Sales, Product, Client Services, Investments). Identify and implement process improvements and data controls to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of reporting, while maintaining compliance with regulatory and governance standards. Collaborate on special projects across the broader PMG team, including investment research, financial model refinements, and the development of performance measurement best practices. Participate in team-specific and firm-wide technology initiatives, including system enhancements, automation efforts, and Power BI reporting. The team sits centrally within the firm, gaining exposure across asset classes, regions, strategies, and portfolios making this an ideal role for those interested in deepening their understanding of private markets and contributing to firm-wide education on performance trends, governance, and analytics. Your background will include: Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Finance, Business, Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics) or demonstrated interest in the investment industry through internships, academics, or extracurricular activities. 2+ years of experience in a financial or accounting-related role preferred. Comfort working with large datasets, relational databases, and data query tools. Proficiency in R is required. Experience with additional programming or scripting languages (e.g., SQL, Python, MATLAB) and familiarity with ETL processes is a plus. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Strong work ethic and professional demeanor with a team-oriented approach and ability to interact productively across multiple verticals within Hamilton Lane. Ability to operate in a high-pressure environment. Demonstrated willingness to learn and high level of accountability. Assist with other duties and special projects as needed. The ability to work in the US without requiring sponsorship.
