Job Overview

Are you an experienced payroll professional looking for a new challenge? Your opportunity awaits!

We are currently seeking a skilled individual to join our Payroll Team. In this hybrid role, you will:

  • Assist with processing the monthly payroll system.
  • Manage ledgers and journals.
  • Prepare annual returns for HMRC.
  • Implement salary changes for staff members, once approved.

This position allows for part-time work in our modern city center Chelmsford office, easily accessible via train and bus, along with remote working options after initial training.

How You'll Make an Impact
  • Produce monthly payroll accurately and on time, including uploading payslips to Oracle.
  • Administer the salaries control ledger efficiently.
  • Reconcile income tax and NI balances monthly for HR Manager review.
  • Manage season ticket arrangements and ensure appropriate payroll deductions.
  • Assist with year-end processes for HMRC submissions.
  • Produce P11Ds annually and provide copies to relevant staff.
  • Handle telephone inquiries promptly and refer as necessary.
  • Liaise with other departments as required.
  • Stay updated on payroll and taxation legislation.
  • Ensure payroll files are organized and communications are accurately recorded.
  • Exercise judgment when reviewing payroll files.
  • Maintain compliance with Sarbanes Oxley standards.
  • Provide assistance to employees with queries.
  • Support other areas of the Company’s business as needed.
  • Follow internal policies and procedures diligently.
  • Take steps to ensure compliance with applicable laws and Gallagher’s values.
About You
  • Detailed understanding of payroll processes.
  • Expertise in Oracle Payroll/HR software.
  • Knowledge of banking methods and accounting principles.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize workload effectively.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Accurate data input skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and Oracle payroll/HR software.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
