At Lyttelton House School, located in the heart of Andover, we provide a nurturing environment for up to 60 pupils aged 5 to 16 with complex needs. Your RoleAs a Tutor, you will play a vital role in supporting our students' personal and academic development. Your responsibilities will include:
- Enhancing wellbeing, readiness for learning, resilience, and behaviour management.
- Collaborating with the Education Team to remove barriers to learning.
- Promoting positive learning behaviours among students.
- Leading classes during PPA and absence cover, with planning support from teaching staff.
- Delivering engaging enrichment activities during 'Golden Time'.
- Providing in-class support for academic, pastoral, emotional, or behavioural needs.
- Addressing immediate concerns and resolving situations effectively.
- Collecting and organizing information related to lessons and interventions.
- Preparing information for meetings regarding pupils.
- Advocating for the ethos of Lyttelton House School.
- Leading on Reading and Phonics, tracking student progress.
- Developing the Pupil Voice initiative in collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team.
- Building relationships with parents/carers and supporting transitions.
To thrive in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:
- A strong educational background, with at least GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics, along with sound IT skills.
- Previous experience in a similar role (e.g., HLTA).
- Experience working with pupils with SEMH in an educational setting.
- Confidence to take on additional responsibilities in specific areas (e.g., Food Hygiene, Forest School, Lunchtimes, School Yoga).
- Knowledge of behaviour management techniques.
- A commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn.
