Our client, a growing, mission-driven organization in Southwest Florida is adding a Staff Accountant to their Accounting team. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants stability, professional growth, and a healthy work/life balance. This position reports directly to the controller and plays a key role in supporting day-to-day and month-end accounting operations while serving as a cross-trained backup for essential accounting functions. Duties include Prepare, review, and post journal entries (accruals, allocations, adjustments) Reconcile assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts Assist with financial statements and variance explanations Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations Support internal audits and cash-handling controls Maintain fixed asset schedules and documentation Reconcile fixed assets to the general ledger and capital budget Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies Assist with annual audits, grant reviews, and internal control documentation Assist with payroll, accounts payable, grants, and other accounting functions Other duties as assigned Qualifications Required Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance 2+ years of accounting experience Working knowledge of GAAP Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines Ability to work independently and collaboratively Preferred Nonprofit accounting experience Month-end close and reconciliation experience Exposure to internal controls or audit support If you’re looking for a stable accounting role with growth potential, meaningful work, and a team that respects work/life balance, this could be a strong fit.
