Located in the vibrant area of Headingley, Leeds, Ormston School opened its doors in September 2024. Your Role and Responsibilities

As a SEND Teacher, you will teach small bespoke class groups of up to 6 pupils, supported by a Teaching Assistant. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering well-structured lessons aligned with the school's curriculum.
  • Assessing, monitoring, and reporting on the learning needs and progress of your pupils.
  • Adapting teaching methods to cater to the diverse strengths and needs of students.
  • Setting high standards that inspire and challenge pupils.
  • Promoting positive progress outcomes.
  • Demonstrating secure subject knowledge across the curriculum.
  • Preparing learners for external tests.
  • Teaching across the KS3/KS4 Curriculum and adapting learning for SEND students.
What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • A relevant degree
  • Successful teaching experience, particularly in delivering qualifications up to GCSE
  • Experience in Humanities, PE, or vocational subjects is preferred
  • Knowledge of the National Curriculum and effective teaching strategies
  • Strong understanding of child development and learning
  • Ability to build effective relationships with pupils
  • Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding practices
  • Effective behavior management strategies
  • Good ICT skills to support learning
