Our New York City, New York facility is seeking an organized and meticulous Shipping Clerk to manage outbound shipments and ensure timely delivery. This role is pivotal in our logistics operations, requiring a keen eye for detail and the ability to coordinate complex shipping schedules. You will be responsible for preparing shipping documentation, coordinating with carriers, and ensuring that all packages meet regulatory and customer requirements. The ideal candidate is proactive, possesses excellent communication skills, and can thrive in a demanding urban environment. Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate shipping labels, bills of lading, and other necessary documentation.
- Coordinate with various shipping carriers (e.g., UPS, FedEx, LTL) to schedule pickups and track shipments.
- Verify the accuracy of outgoing orders before shipment.
- Ensure all packages are properly packaged, labeled, and secured for transit.
- Maintain shipping logs and records, ensuring all data is up-to-date and accurate.
- Communicate shipment status updates to internal departments and external customers.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, including the correct use of PPE .
- Assist with receiving functions as needed.
- Manage and organize the shipping area to ensure efficient workflow.
- Perform regular inventory checks of shipping supplies and reorder as necessary.
- Handle the physical aspects of the job, including lifting packages up to 50 lbs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any shipping-related issues promptly.
- Understand the broader implications of effective logistics management.
- Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations.
- Wear and maintain appropriate PPE throughout the shift.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Proven experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a similar role is essential. Strong knowledge of shipping software and carrier systems. Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities. Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must be physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods. Familiarity with warehouse safety standards and the mandatory use of PPE . A solid understanding of logistics and supply chain processes is highly valued.
