*Summary*
We are seeking a Graduate or equivalent Security Manager to security operations at our clients port terminal facility in the Purfleet area. This is not a typical security manager role and the candidate requires a high degree of organisational and administrative skills in support of the clients existing safety and security set up. Equally it is a role that will see the right person develop in the business into future roles and they will be well supported by senior management and the clients team.
*Terrms*: 0900-1700 - 5 days a week. (40 hour week)
*Responsibilities*
_*On-Site & Operational Leadership (field-based)*_
Be a visible lead on the port, conduct regular standards checks, patrol verifications, and officer welfare visits.
Ensure compliance with assignment instructions, SOPs, risk assessments, toolbox talks, and site post orders.
Coordinate incident response (first response, scene preservation, reporting, evidence handling) and ensure timely escalation to the client.
Drive continuous improvement: identify hotspots, propose problem-solving ops, and deliver coaching on challenge/response, customer service, and safety.
Liaise with client representatives, contractors, and other stakeholders professionally
_*Team leadership and Supervision *_
Assist in training and supervision of a team of supervisors, security officers and staff.
Develop and maintain shift schedules to ensure adequate site coverage.
Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
Office/Admin (service management)
Scheduling/rostering in support of supervisors to achieve fill targets; manage relief cover and annual leave plans.
Payroll inputs and invoicing: verify hours, overtime/allowances, and submit accurate payroll/invoice data to deadlines.
Recruitment & onboarding: assist with interviews, right-to-work, SIA/BS7858 file completeness, inductions, and uniform/ID issuance.
Performance & absence management: conduct 1:1s, return-to-work meetings, coach under-performance, and escalate formal processes per HR policy.
Training & competence: deliver/arrange toolbox talks, refresher training, scenario test/drills, and ensure mandatory modules are in date (e.g., first aid, conflict management).
Risk assessments/SOPs: creation/review; ensure distribution and sign-off; feed lessons learned from incidents/near misses.
KPI/SLA management: maintain evidence for audits; track patrol compliance, incident close-outs, customer satisfaction, and improvement actions.
Stock & assets: oversee radios/body-cams, EV/site vehicles, PPE/uniform, and small equipment; ensure PAT/servicing is in date.
Compliance & audits: support internal/external audits (ISO 9001, ACS, SafeContractor); close actions to deadline.
HR processes such as investigations, discplinary hearings or consultations will be managed
*Qualifications*
* Graduate or equivalent
* Strong admin skills and computer literacy.
* First aid certification is preferred.
* Excellent leadership and communication skills.
* Ability to assess risks and implement effective security measures.
* Knowledge of security, health and safety regulations
* Problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Pay: Up to £37,000.00 per year
