About Ormston School

Located in the vibrant area of Headingley, Leeds, Ormston School opened its doors to its first cohort of learners in September 2024. Your Role and Responsibilities

As a SEND Teacher, you will be responsible for teaching small bespoke class groups of up to 6 pupils, supported by a Teaching Assistant. Your role will involve:

  • Planning and delivering well-structured lessons aligned with the school's curriculum and schemes of work.
  • Assessing, monitoring, and reporting on the learning needs, progress, and achievements of your pupils.
  • Adapting your teaching to meet the diverse strengths and needs of your students.
  • Setting high standards that inspire, motivate, and challenge your pupils.
  • Promoting positive progress outcomes and demonstrating secure subject knowledge.
  • Preparing learners for external tests and teaching across the KS3/KS4 Curriculum.
  • Adapting learning strategies to support pupils with SEND.
What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • A relevant degree
  • Successful teaching experience, particularly in delivering qualifications up to GCSE
  • Experience in Humanities, PE, or vocational subject areas is preferred
  • Knowledge of the National Curriculum and effective teaching strategies
  • A good understanding of child development and learning
  • Ability to build effective relationships with pupils
  • Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding practices
  • Strong ICT skills to support learning

Please note that the successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS Check, the cost of which will be covered by Polaris Community.
