We are looking for an experienced Technical Product Owner to support an ongoing application development engagement. This role is client-facing and focused on requirements discovery, feature research, and writing high-quality user stories in Azure DevOps.
You will work directly with our client during weekly meetings, as well as occasional ad-hoc sessions, to translate business needs into clear, actionable backlog items for our development team.
This is a part-time, long-term role estimated at 10–20 hours per month.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead weekly client conversations focused on understanding business needs and desired outcomes
- Ask clarifying and discovery questions to uncover:
- Real requirements
- Edge cases
- Constraints and assumptions
- Research feature and functionality requests as needed to support well-defined stories
- Write clear, developer-ready user stories and acceptance criteria in Azure DevOps
- Own and maintain a prioritized backlog:
- Define stories
- Break down larger requests
- Ensure work is ready before development starts
- Act as the primary requirements translator between the client and development team
- Push back constructively when requirements are unclear or incomplete
Required Experience
- 5+ years in a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or PO-leaning PM role
- Strong experience writing user stories and acceptance criteria for application development teams
- Hands-on experience using Azure DevOps for backlog and story management
- Proven ability to work directly with clients and stakeholders
- Comfortable operating with ambiguity and turning vague ideas into clear requirements
- Experience working in Agile or Scrum-based environments
Technical Environment (Familiarity Preferred)
Our development work commonly involves:
- Microsoft .NET
- Google Cloud Platform (including services such as Vertex AI, BigQuery)
- Google Workspace
- Zapier and other system integrations
You do not need to be a developer, but you should be comfortable discussing features and capabilities in these ecosystems and researching solutions at a high level.
Nice-to-Have
- Technical background or prior development experience
- Experience working with consulting firms or MSPs
- Experience supporting AI-enabled or integration-heavy applications
Engagement Details
- Time Commitment: ~10–20 hours per month
- Duration: Ongoing / long-term
- Meetings: Weekly standing client meeting + occasional ad-hoc sessions
- Timezone: US-based preferred, Must be available to work during business hours (8am -5pm CST)
