Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and result-oriented Project Manager – Solar BESS to lead the execution of Solar Power Plants integrated with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across Gujarat.
The role will be responsible for end-to-end project management including planning, engineering coordination, procurement, construction, commissioning, grid synchronization, and handover. The incumbent will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
Lead end-to-end execution of Solar + BESS projects from concept to commissioning.
Develop detailed project plans including scope, timelines, resource allocation, and budgets.
Monitor project progress and ensure adherence to milestones.
Coordinate site mobilization and ensure smooth execution at all stages.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, if required.
Technical & Engineering Coordination
Coordinate with design and engineering teams for:
Solar PV plant layout and electrical design
BESS sizing, configuration, and integration
SCADA and grid connectivity systems
Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, and BOQs.
Ensure proper integration between solar PV systems and battery storage systems.
Supervise installation of modules, inverters, transformers, HT/LT panels, and battery systems.
Oversee testing, commissioning, and performance validation.
Vendor & Contractor Management
Identify, evaluate, and onboard EPC contractors, suppliers, and service providers.
Negotiate contracts and ensure adherence to agreed SLAs.
Monitor contractor performance and quality of execution.
Ensure timely procurement and delivery of modules, inverters, batteries, and BOS components.
Regulatory & Statutory Compliance
Ensure compliance with:
State and Central Electricity Authority regulations
DISCOM/grid connectivity norms
CEIG approvals
Electrical Inspectorate requirements
Environmental and local statutory regulations
Liaise with government authorities and utility companies for permits and approvals.
Ensure all documentation and certifications are completed before commissioning.
Budget & Cost Control
Prepare and monitor project budgets (CAPEX & OPEX).
Track expenses and control cost overruns.
Conduct variance analysis and recommend corrective actions.
Optimize project costs without compromising quality and safety.
Risk Management
Identify project risks (technical, financial, regulatory, operational).
Develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
Conduct regular risk review meetings.
Ensure minimal project delays due to unforeseen challenges.
Quality Assurance & Control
Implement QA/QC procedures for solar modules, battery systems, and electrical works.
Conduct site inspections and quality audits.
Ensure adherence to design specifications and industry standards.
Monitor plant performance post-commissioning to meet guaranteed parameters.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols at project sites.
Conduct toolbox talks and safety training sessions.
Ensure compliance with all HSE regulations and best practices.
Investigate and report incidents, ensuring corrective measures are implemented.
Stakeholder Management
Act as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, DISCOM officials, and internal stakeholders.
Provide regular project updates to senior management.
Coordinate with finance, procurement, and operations teams for seamless project delivery.
Ensure smooth handover to O&M teams after commissioning.
Reporting & Documentation
Maintain detailed project documentation including contracts, drawings, approvals, and progress reports.
Prepare weekly and monthly MIS reports.
Track KPIs such as project schedule adherence, cost performance, and quality metrics.
Ensure proper closure documentation and warranty tracking.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: B-tech/Diploma in Electrical Engineering/ Renewable Energy
Experience: 8–10 years of experience in solar power project execution, with at least 3–5 years in Solar + BESS projects.
