Sommaire du poste Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Director, Old Port of Montréal, you will lead a team of six professionals specializing in commercial development, event development, and sponsorships. Your team is responsible for implementing and updating the development plan for the Old Port of Montréal (OPM) to maximize value creation and enhance the site's reputation as a premier business destination.

You will oversee OPM's business relationships with various partners and work in close collaboration with the Operations Department to ensure high‑quality service delivery. With a strong focus on innovation, you will review business models within the OPM senior leadership structure to maximize revenues, reduce expenses, and manage organizational risk for the Société du Vieux‑Port de Montréal.

Primary Responsibilities

Business Strategy Development and Operationalization (75%)

  • Creates a business environment that fosters value creation.
  • Leads the management of the Old Port of Montréal's business relationships with external partners.
  • Identifies optimal business models for each development project and designs new ones when required.
  • Leads negotiations of major agreements and establishes guidelines for those under their direction, ensuring mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Oversees the management of commercial disputes and conflicts to minimize organizational risk and financial loss.
  • Identifies operational issues and client needs to support strategic decision‑making.
  • Establishes standards for on‑site activities to ensure harmonious coexistence among site users and stakeholders while maximizing performance.
  • Develops strategies for identifying new partners in alignment with the organization's business policies.
  • Develops and implements action plans to increase revenues, attendance, and brand awareness for the Old Port of Montréal.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with business networks to position the Old Port advantageously within Montréal's strategic landscape.
  • Evaluates product performance and implements corrective actions when necessary.
  • Actively participates in audits related to the sector, provides recommendations, implements action plans, and ensures ongoing compliance.
  • Establishes a risk management plan for the sector, including mitigation measures.
  • Ensures close collaboration between their teams and the Legal Department to continuously improve business practices and ensure process compliance with organizational policies.

Human, Material, and Financial Resource Management (25%)

  • Manages, motivates, and develops the team (recruitment, training, performance evaluation, conflict resolution, etc.).
  • Clearly communicates expectations from senior leadership, provides direction, and ensures proper follow‑up.
  • Develops and rigorously manages the department's operating budget and all project‑related budgets.
  • Negotiates optimal agreements and contracts in accordance with the organization's objectives and requirements.
  • Ensures compliance with procurement standards and contractual management practices across all services under their direction.

Required Experience & Knowledge: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field
  • 10 years of experience in management and business development
  • Experience in product financing (financial structuring, co‑productions, sponsorships, etc.)
  • Advanced English proficiency (Level 4)

  • 18‑month contract (maternity leave replacement)
