The Manager, Laboratory provides strategic and operational leadership for Laboratory Services in collaboration with the Medical Director of Laboratories and the Director Laboratory and Diagnostic Imagining. Accountable for quality, safety, financial performance, and operational efficiency, this role ensures the delivery of accurate and timely diagnostic services aligned with organizational goals and regulatory standards. As a member of the Hospital Management Team, the Manager fosters a culture of continuous improvement, evidence-based practice, and team engagement. This position plays a critical role in advancing high-quality laboratory services and supporting the organization's commitment to safe, patient-centered care.What You Bring- Bachelor's degree in a health-related discipline (Master's degree preferred)
- Minimum 6 years of relevant laboratory experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
- 3–5 years of progressive leadership/management experience
- Member in good standing with CMLTO
- Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and team-building skills
- Knowledge of hospital information systems and MS Office applications
- Effective organizational, time management, and change management skills
- Demonstrated ability in resource and financial management
- Commitment to professional development and continuous quality improvement
- Provide overall leadership and direction for Laboratory Services
- Ensure compliance with legislative, accreditation, and professional standards
- Lead quality management, process improvement, and LEAN initiatives
- Maintain laboratory licensing and regulatory requirements
- Promote a safe and positive work environment
- Oversee scheduling, attendance management, and performance management processes
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels to meet service demands
- Oversee the Laboratory Quality Management System and Point of Care program
- Ensure compliance with External Quality Assessment (EQA) Program. IQMH, and Accreditation Canada standards
- Establish and monitor quality control programs and testing procedures
- Serve as a resource to physicians, staff, and community partners
- Participate in committees and organizational initiatives as required
