Key job responsibilities
As a Software Development Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team delivering Calendar features. Your team will own the customer facing experience for Calendar on top Alexa+ LLM based experiences. You will work closely with various key stakeholders. You are expected to manage the roadmap, propose, align, and communicate trade offs to generate the optimal value to customers, providing timely visibility to all stakeholders including senior leadership. You will ensure your team operates efficiently, leveraging latest Generative AI based tools as well as the appropriate cross-platform user-experience frameworks, developing experiences across multiple device types. This role works closely with senior leaders across Alexa to deliver strategic initiatives.
A day in the life
A typical day includes engaging cross-functional leaders from product and partner tech teams to conceptualize, scope, and plan upcoming deliveries, ensuring alignment on priorities and technical approaches. Throughout the day, you manage project planning by breaking down complex initiatives into actionable tasks, coordinating delivery timelines with your team, and actively tracking progress to identify and resolve blockers. You regularly communicate delivery status to stakeholders, providing transparent updates on milestones, risks, and achievements. As a technical leader, you contribute to shaping the vision, goals, and technical strategy by staying attuned to customer needs and market opportunities, while mentoring engineers through complex technical challenges, guiding design trade-offs. Throughout all activities, you maintain a relentless focus on innovating on behalf of customers.
Basic Qualifications:
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
