Your Role as Nursery Chef

In this vital role, you will:

  • Prepare, cook, and present age-appropriate meals to the highest standards.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming kitchen environment.
  • Collaborate with the nursery team and parents to enhance the overall care and educational experience of the children.
  • Keep accurate records of supplies and manage ordering within budget.
  • Work Monday to Friday, all year round.

Key Responsibilities

As a Nursery Chef, you will:

  • Ensure the kitchen meets cleanliness and hygiene standards, completing the Kitchen Hygiene Checklist monthly.
  • Prepare and cook enough age-appropriate food daily, minimizing waste.
  • Communicate dietary requirements clearly to the team.
  • Work collaboratively with nursery staff and parents to promote healthy eating.
  • Manage food orders within budget to maintain quality service.
What You Need

To thrive in this role, you should have:

  • A solid understanding of managing dietary requirements, especially food allergies.
  • Knowledge of COSHH regulations.
  • Experience working within a catering budget.
  • Relevant cooking experience in domestic or commercial settings.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English (GCSE grade C or equivalent).
  • A passion for cooking for young children (desirable).
