Radiological Technologist CT Supervisor Nights

Join our Medical Imaging Team as a Radiological Technologist CT Supervisor

Reporting to the Supervisor, the Radiological Technologist 4 (CT – Supervisor Nights) is the permanent night shift lead, providing clinical expertise, operational oversight, and leadership to the Medical Imaging team.

In this role, you will:

• Lead the night shift team, providing work direction and addressing urgent patient, physician, public, and staff concerns that require immediate attention.
• Ensure appropriate staffing levels, approve overtime in accordance with departmental guidelines, and manage time-sensitive administrative responsibilities.
• Perform and oversee CT special procedures in alignment with departmental policies and radiation safety standards, including requisition review, EHR documentation, patient preparation and monitoring, equipment operation, image processing, and quality oversight.
• Supervise the permanent night shift team, supporting and coordinating a staff complement of more than four FTEs.

Schedule: This position follows a night shift rotation, Monday to Thursday.

Education:

• Certification with the CAMRT.
• Completion of an advanced specialty program in Computed Tomography
• One (1) year recent, related experience including supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Completion of an Intravenous Therapy training course.
• Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification - Basic Life Support (BCLS) level.

Skills and Abilities

• Demonstrated knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Imaging practitioners established by the CAMRT and/or other relevant national professional associations.
• Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based practice related to designated modality.
• Demonstrated knowledge of organization policies, procedures and standards of care, including practice of safe work procedures with modality equipment.\
• Demonstrated knowledge of current General Radiography and CT Scan theory and practices within a client/family centred model of care.
• Demonstrated knowledge and practice of safe work procedures with radiology equipment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of research process and methodology.
• Broad knowledge of PACS/Radiology Information Systems, i.e., digital imaging, image archiving and retrieval.
• Demonstrated ability to develop procedure protocols and manuals.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate (orally and in writing) and deal effectively with clients and their families, coworkers, physicians, other health care staff, and staff of external agencies.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise.
• Demonstrated ability to deal with and/or guide others in resolution of conflict issues.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
• Demonstrated ability to plan and establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.
• Demonstrated skill in CT techniques and the use of applicable equipment and supplies.

Your Day to Day:

• Acts as the responsible Night Shift Technologist, addressing urgent incidents, ensuring appropriate staffing levels, approving overtime per guidelines, and communicating updates to leadership.

• Performs and oversees CT special procedures, including reviewing requisitions, correlating clinical history, positioning and educating patients, administering contrast as directed, operating imaging equipment, and ensuring image quality and documentation meet departmental standards. Monitors patients during procedures and responds to emergencies, including performing CPR if required.

• Coordinates workflow and daily operations by reviewing requisitions, managing exam prioritization and inpatient timing, arranging porters, responding to clinical inquiries, and ensuring accurate patient and departmental records within Radiology and Hospital Information Systems.

• Provides leadership and supervision to Medical Imaging staff by setting priorities, supporting payroll and performance processes, contributing to hiring and discipline as appropriate, participating in planning and policy development, and providing training and orientation to staff, residents, and students.

• Leads quality control and improvement activities, including equipment testing, monitoring compliance with Health & Safety standards, supporting Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives, compiling workload and statistical reports, recommending service improvements, and coordinating equipment maintenance and repairs.

• Participates in approved research and special projects and carries out responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.
