Description We are seeking a Senior Designer with deep experience in digital banking platforms to lead experience design for credit union transformation initiatives.
This role operates in the Experience lens of Aequilibrium's Four Lenses model and partners closely with Program Managers, Product Owners, and Solution Architects to craft remarkable member experiences within the constraints and opportunities of modern digital banking platforms.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience designing within ecosystems such as VeriPark, Intellect Design, Central1 Forge, Backbase, Temenos, Lumin, or similar digital banking platforms — and understands how to balance platform capabilities with business ambition.
You will help credit unions modernize their digital banking experience while working intelligently within platform design systems.

Designed within an existing digital banking design system
Worked on migrations or re-platforming initiatives
Tailored digital banking experiences for credit unions or community banks
Navigated the trade-offs between out-of-the-box capabilities and customization
What You Will Be Doing
Experience Leadership Lead UX/UI design efforts for CU digital banking initiatives
Design responsive online and mobile banking experiences
Align member journeys with business strategy and regulatory constraints
Facilitate design workshops with CU stakeholders
Platform-Aware Design
Work directly within vendor design systems (e.g., Backbase DS, Forge UI framework, Temenos Infinity, etc.)
Assess and recommend:
Out-of-the-box configurations (low risk, faster time to market)
Platform extensions (moderate customization)
Bespoke experiences (higher complexity, higher differentiation)
Collaborate with Solution Architects to evaluate feasibility and effort
Balance member experience ambition with implementation constraints
Design Systems & Governance
Tailor and extend platform design systems while maintaining consistency
Create reusable UI components and interaction patterns
Ensure accessibility and usability standards are met
Contribute to internal AEQ design accelerators and frameworks
Collaboration & Delivery
Work closely with Product Owners to translate requirements into flows and wireframes
Provide annotated specifications to development teams
Support sprint cycles and iterative delivery
Participate in user testing and validation sessions
Present design recommendations to executive stakeholders
Qualification Requirements
Must-Have Located in North, Central, or South America
5+ years of experience in UX/UI design for web and mobile applications
3+ years designing for digital banking platforms
Direct experience with one or more of:
VeriPark
Intellect Design
Central1 Forge
Backbase
Temenos
Lumin or similar platforms
Experience working within structured design systems
Strong understanding of responsive design and accessibility standards
Experience collaborating with architects and developers in Agile environments
Strong ability to communicate design trade-offs to business stakeholders
Strongly Preferred
Experience working with credit unions
Experience in digital banking platform migrations
Experience assessing configuration vs customization decisions
Familiarity with authentication flows, payments, onboarding, account management, and financial dashboards
Experience contributing to or evolving a platform design system
Education
University degree in Design, HCI, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
Salary
CAD $110,000 – $140,000 annually. Salary based on platform expertise and digital banking experience.
