Position: Mechanical Assembler I

Department: Custom Switchboards

Client: A global power management company

Location: Milton, Ontario

Shift: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (Day shift for training up to 8 weeks, then transitioning to afternoon shift)

Pay: $23.00–$25.00/hr (based on experience)

Duration: 5-month contract with possible extension (Direct hire, no interview)

Key Responsibilities:

• Assemble and fit mechanical components into large switchboard structures using pre-fabricated steel and copper parts

• Mount and brace bus risers and supports inside structures following engineering schematics

• Operate various manufacturing equipment, torque tools, punch presses, and band saws

• Construct pallets per engineering design requirements

• Inspect parts and materials for conformance to drawings and quality standards, making mechanical adjustments as needed

• Identify design issues in schematics and escalate appropriately

• Repair or rework issues detected during inspection or testing

• Cross-train and support other team members when needed

• Adhere to CSA and UL codes while maintaining kanban and MRB process integrity


Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Minimum 2 years of mechanical assembly experience using power tools

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and models

• Comfortable working with power tools, hardware, ladders, and pallet trucks

• Strong commitment to quality, safety, teamwork, and meeting production demands

• Must reside within 80 KM of Milton, ON


Preferred Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education or technical certification in a mechanical trade

• Experience with Outlook, Oracle, and Inventor

• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing processes and Six Sigma tools


Important Note: Candidates must agree to work the day shift for up to 8 weeks for training before transitioning to the afternoon shift once they can work independently.
