WHAT'S THE TEAM LIKE

The Leadership team at the Calgary Airport Authority is structured to ensure operational excellence, risk management, and strategic alignment across business and technology initiatives.

Within this framework, the General Manager of Project Execution role is designed to oversee all aspects of major business and technology projects, ensuring they meet organizational objectives and are successfully delivered with a high level of quality.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Lead and coordinate the full lifecycle of project execution, including planning, design, construction, installation, testing, commissioning, and turn‑over activities across business and IT project types.
  • Oversee all phases of project delivery to ensure projects are executed efficiently, on schedule, and within approved budgets.
  • Foster strong engagement and alignment with business leaders to ensure project plans are fully understood, supported, and integrated with organizational priorities.
  • Identify alignment gaps or challenges and facilitate collaborative problem‑solving to maintain progress and drive successful outcomes.
  • Oversee project forecasting and reporting cycles for schedule, financial performance, and delivery progress.
  • Establish project structures and reporting mechanisms that enable efficient tracking, transparency, and decision‑making.
  • Provide leadership, direction, coaching, and support to Project Managers, Business Analysts, Project Coordinators, and the broader Project Delivery team.
  • Manage workforce planning, resource allocation, and the distribution of work to ensure optimal delivery capacity.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING

  • You'll need to be eligible to obtain and maintain a RAIC, don't worry – we'll help you through this For more details, check out: RAIC Program and Application Information
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, project management, or similar. Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • At least 8 years of experience in a similar role overseeing long-term and capital projects in similar organization.
  • Makes decisions using a balanced approach that considers risk, resources, cost, operational needs, and long‑term value.
  • Builds strong relationships across business areas and collaborates to remove barriers, drive alignment, and resolve conflicts constructively.
  • Engages stakeholders with transparency, ensuring they remain informed, aligned, and confident in project direction and progress.
  • Interprets complex data, forecasts, and metrics to identify trends, anticipate issues, and guide decision‑making.
  • Evaluates risks and proposes mitigation strategies that balance operational, financial, and regulatory considerations.

WHAT ADDITIONAL SKILLS ARE AN ASSET

  • Bilingual in English and French.
  • Professional certifications in Project Management and Business Analysis.
  • Experience managing projects in Oracle.
