Hiring Unit:
Schulich School of Music - Booking Office
Position Summary:
The Office Assistant B will provide support for clinics and ensemble activities. Primary duties include moving percussion equipment in and out of ensemble rooms, setting up and tearing down ensemble room furniture (music stands and chairs), and greeting visiting school groups and escorting them to the designated area. Tasks will be completed in coordination with the Booking Office Supervisor and the Percussion Area Assistant. Additional administrative or event‑related tasks may be assigned as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the supervisor, the incumbent may perform some or all of the listed tasks. The incumbent is expected to maintain the work area in a clean and orderly manner. The duties listed are representative but not exhaustive, and other related Office Assistant B tasks may be assigned in support of the unit's activities.
Move percussion instruments and related equipment in and out of ensemble rooms in coordination with the Booking Office Supervisor and the Percussion Area Assistant.
Set up and tear down the ensemble room, including arranging music stands, chairs, and other required items.
Greet visiting school groups and escort them to the assigned ensemble room.
Assist with general event support for clinics or similar activities.
Perform other administrative or operational duties consistent with the Office Assistant B classification, as required.
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
Strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude when interacting with students, staff, and visitors.
Good communication skills in person and by email or telephone.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Organized, reliable, and attentive to detail.
Ability to handle and move musical equipment safely (training will be provided).
Knowledge of music or familiarity with ensemble settings is considered an asset.
Must either be a current student in Music or have a bachelor's degree or equivalent in Music.

Knowledge of English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level # 3 on a scale of 0-4.
